Evaluation and Management of Suspected Fetal Growth Restriction

چکیده
Impaired fetal growth owing to placental insufficiency is a major contributor adverse perinatal outcomes. No intervention available that improves outcomes by changing the pathophysiologic process. Monitoring in early-onset restriction (FGR) focuses on optimizing timing of iatrogenic preterm delivery using cardiotocography and Doppler ultrasound. In late-onset FGR, identifying fetus at risk for immediate hypoxia who benefits from expedited challenging. It likely studies next decade will provide evidence how best integrate different monitoring variables other prognosticators models are aimed optimize individual treatment strategies.

Diagnosis and Management of Fetal Growth Restriction
Fetal growth restriction (FGR) remains a leading contributor to perinatal mortality and morbidity and metabolic syndrome in later life. Recent advances in ultrasound and Doppler have elucidated several mechanisms in the evolution of the disease. However, consistent classification and characterization regarding the severity of FGR is lacking. There is no cure, and management is reliant on a stru...
متن کاملIntegrated testing and management in fetal growth restriction.
Growth-restricted fetuses are at higher risk for poor perinatal and long-term outcome than those who are appropriately grown. Multiple antenatal testing modalities can help document the sequence of fetal deterioration. The full extent of this compromise is best identified by a combination of fetal biometry, biophysical profile scoring, and arterial and venous Doppler. In the preterm growth-rest...
متن کاملEvaluation of Abdominal Fetal Electrocardiography in Early Intrauterine Growth Restriction
Objectives: This descriptive study was performed to evaluate the capability of a non-invasive transabdominal electrocardiographic system to extract clear fetal electrocardiographic (FECG) measurements from intrauterine growth restricted (IUGR) fetuses and to assess whether abdominal FECG parameters can be developed as markers for evaluating the fetal cardiac status in IUGR. Methods: Transabdomi...
متن کاملSuspected Fetal Growth Restriction at 37 Weeks: A Comparison of Doppler and Placental Pathology
Objective. Our objective was determining if abnormal Doppler evaluation had a higher prevalence of placental pathology compared to normal Doppler in suspected fetal growth restriction (FGR) of cases delivered at 37 weeks. Study Design. This retrospective cohort study of suspected FGR singletons with antenatal Doppler evaluation delivered at 37 weeks had a primary outcome of the prevalence of pl...
متن کاملNeurodevelopment after fetal growth restriction.
Fetal growth restriction (FGR) can emerge as a complication of placental dysfunction and increases the risk for neurodevelopmental delay. Marked elevations of umbilical artery (UA) Doppler resistance that set the stage for cardiovascular and biophysical deterioration with subsequent preterm birth characterize early-onset FGR. Minimal, or absent UA Doppler abnormalities and isolated cerebral Dop...
